St. Louis Cardinals Tickets

The St. Louis Cardinals became the first MLB team to finance their own ballpark, since the Giants began construction on SBC Park (formerly AT&T Park) in 1997. Construction began in January 2004, and was ready for Opening Day 2006. The new Busch Stadium sits partially on the site of the stadium it replaced. Similar to how Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati was built, part of the Cardinals' prior ballpark was torn down, as needed, to make room for their new ballpark.  The design of the new Busch Stadium took into account the diverse culture of St. Louis, and the rich history of the Cardinals, with classic arched openings reminiscent of the nearby Cupples Station, the new stadium maintains a rustic feel with modern ammenities. It's creative use of old and new materials, from brick and concrete to exposed steel and glass, creates an architectural statement that stands on its own, with a modern sensibility appropriate for the 21st century.

The Cardinals today are a force to be reckoned with in the NL. Their last World Series appearance was in 2004, when they were also Division Champs, a title they seized in the 2005 as well. The Cardinals offense has remained one of the best in MLB for the last several years, and although the awards and accolades that have accompanied the Cardinals over the last few seasons may be lacking, the team has remained a strong competitor. Standout Cardinals in the past have included legendary RHP Cy Young, OF Jesse Burkett, Ozzie Smith, Dennis Eckersley. Today, Cardinals standouts include slugger Albert Pujols, pitcher Chris Carpenter, and 3B Scott Rolen.
