Arizona Cardinals
Sun Devil Stadium, Frank Kush Field, is located on the campus of Arizona State University in
Tempe, AZ. It is home to the ASU Sun Devils college football team. It
was also the home of the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, from 1988 to 2005.
This season, the Cardinals
will move from Sun Devil Stadium, to Cardinals Stadium, in another
Phoenix suburb, Glendale. The 63,000-seat stadium (expandable to 73,000)
is scheduled to open on August 12, 2006, when the Cardinals host the
Pittsburgh Steelers in an exhibition game; the first regular season game
is set for September 10th, versus the San Francisco 49ers. The home game
will mark the first time the Cardinals will play on the opening weekend
of the NFL season, since moving to Arizona in 1988. The stadium will
also be home to the annual Fiesta Bowl and, once every four years, the
BCS National Championship Game. In 2008, the stadium will host Super
Bowl XLII.
